Certified Forest Bathing Destination Spas and Retreats

Spa operators would never hire an untrained yoga practitioner or person who gives massage to provide these important services. Likewise, retreat centers aim to provide the highest quality experience possible for their visitors, and this means having well-trained, expert staff.

As Forest Bathing grows in popularity, there has been a tendency for experts in some fields, such as mindfulness or naturalist education, to assume that their qualifications encompass the ability to lead forest bathing walks. In some cases this may be true. But training is important. Here's a story we've heard several times:

"I went to a retreat center and took their forest bathing class. The leader didn't seem to know what they were doing. It left me with a negative impression of forest therapy. But I enrolled in another guided walk, this one led by a guide trained by ANFT. The difference was like night and day. I had an amazing experience. It's so important that as this practice grows, people have good experiences the first time out. "

Spas and retreat centers are often leaders when it comes to introducing powerful new practices. We aim to help you do it right. Just as we have established (and continue to build) a global network of skillful guides, we envision a global network of recognized, certified forest bathing destinations. We've made a good beginning. Let us know if you would like to discuss being a part of this movement.
