Guide Training Scholarship

The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs recognizes that there are many ways in our society that challenge some people’s ability to fully participate in the opportunities that call to them. We believe that nature should be a place of healing, discovery and inspiration for all peoples, regardless of their background or the resources available to them. We continually strive to cultivate inclusion and diversity among our guides. In this spirit, the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs offers a limited number of full tuition scholarships for forest therapy guide trainings to applicants who experience financial barriers to training programs like ours, and who demonstrate a strong potential for bringing forest therapy to communities and settings that open the doors for others to participate.

Twelve scholarships will be offered each year. These scholarships will cover a recipients’ tuition for the one-week training intensive and the subsequent six-month practicum. Travel, food, and lodging must be covered by the recipient and can be paid by credit card or check at the time of registration. Should the cost of travel, food and lodging present an insurmountable hurdle, we encourage recipients to reach out to their communities for support or use an online crowd-funding site like

Information about the scholarship and access to the application will be made available in March, 2020.

Our scholarship fund is supported by Community Members, who are people both inside and outside of our guide community who advocate for the growth of forest therapy. We are deeply grateful for the contributions of our community members who make our scholarship fund possible.

ANFT is seeking to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities who demonstrate strong potential for bringing forest therapy to diverse communities, and who demonstrates a clear need of financial support. Scholarship recipients must commit to the entire program (one week training intensive and six month practicum followed by certification) to be considered for this scholarship.
